Illvilje = [From Norse, “illvili”] A sadistic desire to cause other people pain and suffering | Hate’s own will.
It all started when a guy from the west coast of Norway living in Hamar met a Frenchman living in Gjøvik. In common, they have an aging heart for black metal and with different backgrounds from both rock, death metal and black metal, the chemistry became strong and powerful, which brought Illvilje to life. Are has previously released underground music with the death metal band Cage of Torment, the thrash metal band Through Your Eyes and as a session drummer on Trelldom’s album Til Minnet. Steven also has extensive experience in the world of music with, among other things, the solo project Netra. To make Illvilje complete, a vocal had to be in place that created the right atmosphere and embraced the songs with an iron grip. Jolm, known from Nifrost and Vyrda Greip, from Skien where he now lives, wandered up the river Mjøsa’s long width to take on the responsibility as vocalist. With Jolm screaming in dialect and with his honest and aggressive voice combined with primitive musical tones, Illvilje delivers a piece of black metal with a distinctive character.
Debut album coming in 2025 on Downfall Records! The drums were recorded in Bergen at Earshot & Conclave Studios. Guitars/bass/vocals are recorded and mixed by Illvilje. The album itself has a good balance between old school feel, grim riffs, melodic parts and groove and deals with the power of mother nature, the weakness of man’s will and the hatred of life.
